Emory’s Disney Nursery
I started brainstorming this nursery the week I found out I was pregnant. Devin and I knew we wanted it to be Disney themed. Some of our most treasured memories were our many days spent at the parks. We went to college in Kissimmee, FL, just a half hour away from Walt Disney World. We were annual passholders for years and spent so much time at the parks. We went on dates, spent birthdays, and went with our friends to experience the rides, the food, and the general atmosphere. A little over a year after we got our annual passes, Devin proposed to me at Disney’s Boardwalk in front of the lighthouse at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort. We really wanted to capture our love for Disney in this nursery.
But searching the internet for Disney inspired nurseries…. um gross. All I could find was character themes, obnoxious colors and cheesy mural stickers. I wanted something beautiful, something more muted, with nods to our beloved parks, but not Mickey Mouse throw up. This ended up being the final product. We hope to add more details later down the road, but from Emory’s own Disney memories.
I made the mobile with wooden beads and circles. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out tiny decals that I handpicked for our favorite memories. You’ll find some of our favorite characters, rides, restaurants, and resorts sprinkled throughout this mobile. On another wall, I have six frames with six princesses’ castles in them. I wanted to add a little bit more to these, so I asked my retired, music teacher aunt to write up the sheet music for a song from each of these princesses movies. When I thought we couldn’t make it any greater, my sweet husband, Devin, found a way to use NFC Tags with the frames. When we hold our phone over the frame, a shortcut is enabled, and the actual song starts playing for us.
